Suburban Reviewers hold tailgate party to kick off new club year

The Suburban Reviewers gathered  at St. Francis Episcopal Fellowship Hall in Denham Springs, September 4 to kick off their club year with a tailgate party hosted by Earline Sceroler, Myra Peak, Marlene Lee, Ann Kemp, Susan Jackson, Cissy Grantham and Sara Easterly.  Tables were decorated with a festive football /tailgate theme including beautiful fall floral arrangements and tiger ornaments.

Members enjoyed a delicious spread including an assortment of finger sandwiches, cowboy caviar, spinach balls, petit fours, cookies and brownies.  President Theresa Dendinger welcomed 26 members back from summer break.  Earline Sceroler, Secretary, documented attendance, read the April and May minutes and collected dues. Club members voted on changes to the constitution and by-laws.  Nominations were accepted for several new members.  Following the business meeting, Elise LeBlanc, Vice-President introduced guest authors Allison Schoonmaker and Christine Varnado.  Members were interested to learn about "The Proverbs Project"a 30 day "head to toe" devotional intended to help families connect with God and each other.  Allison and Christine led members in an exercise using starburst candies to practice awareness.  Christine recognized several members as her former teachers, including Ann Kemp and Elise LeBlanc as her high school English teachers. Memories and laughs were shared reminiscing about their classes.  Cissy Grantham gifted members with proverb themed note cards.
