Musicians and singers took the stage to perform a full slate of holiday tunes during “A Swingin’ Christmas Revue,” presented by The Spotlight Theater Players.

Held at Serenity Events Center in Denham Springs, the show featured the King Creole Orchestra along with special guests the Baton Rouge Chorus of the Sweet Adelines and Ashton Brooke Gill, a local singer/songwriter and former contestant on “American Idol.”

Performers gave ticket buyers plenty of familiar holiday jingles to sing along to, such as “Jingle Bells,” “Baby It’s Cold Outside,” “Have Yourself a Merry Christmas,” “Oh Holy Night,” and “The First Noel,” among others.

The holiday event served as a fundraiser for the Spotlight Theater Players, a non-profit and community theater organization that aims to bring quality live theatrical productions to the citizens of Livingston Parish, produced and performed by the community.

Robert Reynolds, one of the organization’s founders, said the group was unable to perform in 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and Hurricane Ida. The Christmas revue was its first production since 2019, though Reynolds noted that the organization has plans for a stage production in March 2023.
